Invsalign | Penhold Dental CareAre you looking for Invisalign Braces in Penhold?

Dr. Dave Litchfield and the Penhold Dental team are pleased to offer Penhold Invisalign patients the option of Invisalign Invisible Braces. Invisalign is considered the virtually invisible way to straighten teeth without the need for conventional wire braces.

Traditional teeth straightening appliances such as wire braces have a reputation for being uncomfortable and unattractive. Food can get trapped in the brackets and wires, and not only are they hard to keep clean, but braces can also cause plaque to accumulate and the tooth decay process to speed up.

Although traditional orthodontics, using wire and brackets, and are still recommended in some complex orthodontic cases, there is no an alternative that answers all of these challenges!

The Clear, Removable Orthodontic Treatment

If you, or your teen, need orthodontic treatment today, you might find that Invisalign is the solution you’ve been looking for. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners, making it easy to continue brushing and flossing your teeth the way you normally do and they’re hardly noticeable to those around you. With Invisalign, you don’t have to stop eating all the foods you love!

Invisalign’ s comfortable and clear aligners gradually begin to move your teeth into the proper position and allow you up to 2 hours per day to remove them.

Getting Started With Invisalign

The first step is to book a consultation with us. During the consultation, our Invisalign dentist will discuss your case in detail to determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign. We know you’ll have lots of questions, so write them down and bring your notepad to the consultation. We’ll give you the opportunity to ask any questions you have about the treatment.

What Does Getting Invisalign Involve?

Your Penhold Dentist will take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth, which will be used to create 3-D digital images. From these images, we will map out a treatment plan, which includes the proposed movement of your teeth. This 3-D imaging technology is really detailed, and we’ll even be able to show you what your teeth will look at each stage of treatment, not just the end! Since all of this is done before the Invisalign aligners being fabricated, you will have a chance actually to see and assess the final result before committing to treatment thus allowing us to make changes to the treatment plan beforehand so we can deal with any concerns you may have with the proposed final result.

What are the Aligners Made Out Of?

Based on your individual treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners are created specifically for you. The Invisalign aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic that won’t irritate your cheeks and gums like traditional metal braces can.

Simply wear your Invisalign aligners throughout the day, and remove them when you eat or brush and floss your teeth. As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth gently and gradually begin to move into place. As a test of how noticeable they are, ask people who you are close with if they notice you’re wearing the aligners. Since the aligners are virtually invisible, you’ll be surprised that most people had not even noticed.

How Long Does It Take?

Invisalign treatment varies by the case. Typically treatment takes about nine months for adults. For teens, the length of treatment can be comparable to that of braces but can also be shorter; nevertheless, since your teen’s teeth won’t be covered by wires and brackets, improvement will be noticeable and provide motivation to keep going.

It’s important to realize that your actions can influence how quickly it will work. For the best results, Invisalign aligners must be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day throughout your entire treatment. Keep up the discipline and you’ll soon see the results!

What Kind of Orthodontic Cases are Treatable?

Overly Crowded Teeth

Over-crowding of teeth can lead to plaque accumulation, tooth decay and an increased chance of gum disease and, of course, the teeth look crooked. Left untreated, overly crowded teeth can get worse over time. Crowding can be treated with Invisalign.

Spaced Teeth

Too much space between teeth can often be treated using Invisalign. Spacing between teeth, not only looks unattractive but can lead to gum problems without the normal protection of the teeth, periodontal pockets that can accumulate plaque and a general increased risk of periodontal disease.

Crossbite

Crossbite means that the upper and lower jaws are not properly aligned. This can lead to abnormal tooth wear and chipping, and periodontal problems including gum disease and bone loss. Again, Invisalign is a viable treatment option for crossbite, depending on your situation.
